Dino Toppmöller, Ansgar Knauff and Nathaniel Brown try to put the 7-2 win against Bochum into words and want to “remain focused”.
Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “It was a fantastic performance from my team and the crowning moment of a great week. We were insatiable, we had a hunger for football and good counter-pressing. We’ve only had two days of recovery for each of the last four games, so to produce a performance like that makes me proud. I want to emphasise the team performance. I’m glad we’ve got two days off now. The boys can enjoy the moment and also have a glance at the table. From Tuesday, it's full focus on Slavia Prague.”
Ansgar Knauff: “It was certainly pretty special. We had high hopes because we wanted to bring the energy that we felt in the cup game onto the pitch again. We played with full intensity and full focus from the start, which immediately ignited the crowd. Pretty much everything came off perfectly. When we get that full intensity over 90 minutes, the stadium is behind us the whole time. That gives us an extra push, and that way no doubts or wobbles come into play, but we just keep pushing forward. We did that very well today.” Nathaniel Brown: “An unbelievable performance. It’s great to have pulled that off. Before my goal I thought: go on, just run into the box. Suddenly I was alone in front of goal and just had to stick out my foot. It’s a childhood dream to score my first Bundesliga goal in this stadium with this team. I enjoyed the game. Especially at the end, it was a lot of fun passing the ball around in this great atmosphere.”
