Djordje Petrovic believes the experience gained from the Carabao Cup final could be important for him and his team-mates ahead of the FA Cup semi final against Manchester City.

Petrovic is preparing for his second appearance at Wembley this season, and has impressed since coming into the side after Robert Sanchez initially got injured in December.

The 24-year-old’s first appearance at the national stadium ended in disappointment as the Blues fell to defeat in Extra time against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

The Serb believes that experience will help him and his team-mates when they take on Manchester City for a place in the FA Cup final.

Speaking to the club’s official website Petrovic acknowledged the importance of the game and how it will no longer be a step into the unknown for Chelsea’s young squad following the Carabao Cup final.

“I think in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool we had a good game”, he said.

“We missed some chances and maybe we deserved to win that game, but also it was an important experience for everyone in the squad.

“For a lot of us, it is our first season in the Premier League, and also that was our first time at Wembley, where the atmosphere was amazing with everyone enjoying the game.

“So now I think we know what we will expect and it is important to get the last title available to us this season.

“In terms of the most important thing we learned from that first visit, I think maybe it was just the realisation of what we can expect from playing in this stadium and it will be nice to do it again now.”

The Serbia international has made 23 appearances and kept five clean sheets so far in his debut season, with three of those coming in the Premier League.
