Watford defender Lois Edwards has completed a move to ScottishPower Women’s Premier League club Aberdeen.

The Dons confirmed news of the deal via a post on their official club website yesterday morning.

Edwards spent 18 months with Watford after joining the club ahead of the 2022/2023 campaign. Edwards made four appearances for The Golden Girls in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division before a serious knee injury brought an early end to her season.

The player is now rebuilding her fitness and she has linked-up with former Watford boss Clinton Lancaster north of the border at Aberdeen.

After securing Edwards’ services for The Dons, manager Lancaster said “Lois has experience playing for a variety of clubs in England. She’s a fantastic defender who can play within a back-three or four but she’s also a strong character and someone I believe will fit in well with our group.”

Edwards joins an Aberdeen side that are currently occupying seventh position in the ScottishPower Women’s Power League. The Dons look set to improve on last season’s first phase finish of 10th place. Aberdeen are next in action this afternoon when they travel Edinburgh to face Boroughmuir Thistle in the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup.
