It's official.

Table-topping WSL side Chelsea have captured the signing of USWNT defender Naomi Girma from San Diego Wave in the NWSL.

It wasn't a particularly well-kept secret, but the club waited to pull the trigger on the announcement until 10 minutes before kick-off when they faced Arsenal in the WSL.

Girma has become the first ever women's footballer to be sold for over the $1m mark, and added to a Chelsea side that are already dominating in the WSL is a huge statement of intent from the Blues.
