Warren Zaïre-Emery has made history for the French national team on Saturday evening.
The PSG teenager has become the youngest player to start for Les Bleus since 1914 – in over a century.
Didier Deschamps has decided to hand the midfielder his international debut in their Euro 2024 clash with Gibraltar at the ripe old age of 17 years and eight months.
He now makes history for France becoming the youngest debutant since Maurice Gastiger, who made his debut in 1914 at the age of 17 years and 128 days.
And then within only 16 minutes of action, Zaïre-Emery achieved a second historic feat.
He picked up the ball in the middle of the park, passed it to Kingsley Coman and then stabbed home the subsequent cross for his first goal for his country.
He became the youngest-ever scorer for France but suffered a rash challenge in the process seeing Ethan Santos sent off and the PSG star forced to come out injured.
It’s been some rise to the top for the PSG man, who has stormed into the first team of the Ligue 1 champions this season going on to make 14 appearances in all competitions and stunning after providing three assists in the Champions League.
It’s a night to remember that will be slightly dampened.
