Ward Prowse shines in West Ham comeback at Molineux | OneFootball

A huge encounter at Molineux with both teams in search of European football and the visitors sat in 7th place before the game. Wolves searched for a win after being held to a draw midweek against Burnley. West Ham returned to winning ways after their draw with Spurs.

Pablo Sarabia opened the scoring from the spot in the first half but Lucas Paqueta levelled the score in the same fashion. A stunning James Ward-Prowse goal directly from the corner gave West Ham the lead. Max Kilman looked to had levelled the scores late on, but after a VAR check the goal was disallowed and West Ham took three points back to East London.

Tommy Doyle and Santiago Bueno came into the starting line-up for the hosts, with Ederson Alvarez returning for the visitors following his suspension.

Wolves started the game with heavy spells of possession switching the ball from side to side, the first chance of the game fell to Sarabia. A pass from Semedo found the Spaniard a couple yards away from goal, but Fabianski was there to deny him.

A brilliant attacking run from Rayan Ait-Nouri found the Algerian in the box, but Zouma was there to deny the Algerian with a last-ditch tackle.

Wolves continued their threat from the corner, a low shot from Doyle put Fabianski to work.

The hosts were awarded with a penalty a few moments later, Doyle played Ait-Nouri through on goal and was hacked down in the box by Emerson.

Sarabia made no mistake from the spot and gave Wolves the lead before half-time.

After the break, David Moyes made two changes. Ben Johnson and Michail Antonio came on to make his 300th appearance for the club.

Emerson headed home with 30 minutes to play, but a foul was given on Semedo as the ball came in.

The Hammers were awarded a penalty through Wolves’ mistake, O’Neil’s side lost possession on the edge of the box and a handball from Max Kilman enabled the referee to point to the spot.

Lucas Paqueta levelled the scores from the spot after a series of attacking pressure.

The goal gave West Ham belief, and they look the lead in the 84th minute in a unique way.

James Ward Prowse swung in a corner which beat everybody in the box including Sa, his curled effort nestled into the side netting to give the Hammers the lead.

Wolves continued for a leveller, in the 99th minute of additional time, Joao Gomes’ cross found Max Kilman who headed home from close-range.

After a lengthy VAR check, the goal was disallowed for offside and you could feel the frustration within Molineux.

Wolves had given away their 1-0 lead, and are now winless in four games.

Next up, O’Neil’s team will travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest and former manager, Nuno Espirito Santo.

Meanwhile, West Ham will travel to Germany to play Bayern Leverkusen, who are currently unbeaten this season.
