Former Wales captain Ashley Williams has announced his retirement from football.
The 36-year-old has been without a club since leaving Championship side Bristol City at the end of the 2019/20 season.
In a post on his personal Instagram account, Williams said: “It’s been an unbelievable journey and one I will look back on with my family and be immensely proud of.
“Football has taught me so much both on and off the field.”
The centre-defender led his country to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
He earned 86 caps for his country while totalling over 600 appearances for Stockport County, Swansea City, Everton and Stoke City during his career.
