Our assistant coach Vitor Matos is using a diary to provide glimpses behind the scenes of our training camp in Saalfelden. With his ninth diary entry, the Portuguese coach describes the preparations ahead of our match with HNK Rijeka.
Dear FC Red Bull Salzburg fans,
We are coming towards the end of our training camp. It’s been my great pleasure to give you some insight about our camp so far, and I really hope that you enjoyed it as much as me, and also that you now feel even closer to us. It is not the last day yet, though, so I will leave the goodbyes for later.
We sticked with our matchday -1 routine today. Pep and I started the day earlier with a preparation meeting for the players. We organised the video analysis together with our analyst, Sebastian Sommer, so that in the end we could make the message clearer and easier for the players to understand. Our idea is always to create stories for the players to connect much easier to the work we do on the pitch. After that, Pep did a great speech for the players, setting the standards high in terms of goals and ambition. We are focusing on the process every day! The training session was a tactical overview regarding the match tomorrow in order to create stability in the macro principles of our game idea. The afternoon was free for everyone. It’s important that the players have these moments to switch off as well, either without training or team activities. I used the time to speak with Pep regarding the coming days in terms of training and organisation.
A word is due also to both for our CEO Stephan and for Bernie, our sports director. The support you guys have given us so far has really been outstanding. That you guys spent the last few days here with us at the training camp shows how much you care about the club and the staff, so I want to say a big thank you to you both!
Tomorrow, as you know, we play against HNK Rijeka, which we are all looking forward to.
Des is Soizburg! That is our way!
Until tomorrow, Vitor Matos
