Chelsea have added two goals in the second half to see off Southampton at St Mary’s
The first was a Christopher Nkunku goal really, but the France forward was fouled as he shot, and his effort trickled tamely towards the line.
Luckily Cole Palmer was there to hungrily finish the job, getting there just ahead of Joao Felix. Palmer continues his stupendous run of goals and assists, although this will surely be his least impressive ever Premier League goal.
Palmer was taken of not long after this goal for a much deserved rest. We need him fresh for our game on Sunday. Even the 72 minutes he got tonight were more then we’d like to have seen really – but his goal probably makes it all worthwhile.

Jadon Sancho lines up a power strike to score against Southampton and make it 5-1.
Jadon Sancho was brought on shortly before Palmer departed, coming into a game which looked pretty dead. But as always with the players pushing to get into the first team, Sancho looked full of beans, and on a quick break he rifled the ball high into the net to finish off a miserable Southampton.
The winger seemed to earn his place back in the first team last week after impressing against Heidenheim. He was started against Leicester, which should line him up for a place against Tottenham. But with the performance Noni Madueke put in tonight, nothing is certain.
All these guys are doing all they can to get in the team, and we’re the ones who benefit.
