Watford forward Troy Deeney has heaped praise on Roberto Firmino and claims that he is one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

Deeney says that he got abuse for making that claim about Firmino in the past, but is sticking to what he believes following the forward’s performance against Leicester. Firmino scored the third goal as Liverpool beat Leicester 3-0, powering a header past Kasper Schmeichel from a corner.

TalkSport posted the clip on Twitter, with Deeney offering his assessment of where Firmino stands at Liverpool at the moment.

Firmino has struggled in front of goal since the start of last season. He has just 12 goals in his last 52 starts across the Champions League and Premier League, with two goals in nine league games so far in the current campaign. The forward only scored once in the Champions League last season and has failed to notch in Europe this term.

He had, however, managed to hit double figures for goals in each of his first four Premier League seasons for Liverpool. In those four seasons, Firmino registered an impressive 28 assists to go along with his goals, proving that he can be a threat at both scoring and creating.
