Barcelona went toe-for-toe against PSG last night in a game that promised and delivered blockbuster entertainment. It had high-quality goals, drama, tactical genius, individual storylines, and so much more.

Ahead of the game, too, Barcelona players were treated with a hostile atmosphere a PSG ultras had already decided to make the tie as difficult on the Catalans as possible.

Their main ultras group – Collectif Ultras Paris tried rallying the fans to show up to the game early in an attempt to rattle Barcelona players during and before warm-ups.

A large section of PSG fans did turn up the stadium early and when Barcelona players entered the Parc des Princes, they did their level best to rattle them by shouting ‘Puta Barça, Puta Barça, Puta Barça, eh eh!’

However, this did not seem to work at all on the Barça players, with a video clip of Marc Guiu and Hector Fort reacting to the chants with the utmost unseriousness.

They were seen laughing and recording the chant on their phone, with Fort, especially, enjoying the occasion.

PSG also had a Star Wars’ Yoda-related tifo ready to intimidate Barcelona to go along with their flares and deafening songs.

While neither of the two youngsters ended up coming off the bench to play against PSG, it seems the home support’s efforts were not good enough as Barcelona cruised to a 2-3 win at the Parc des Princes.

Barcelona’s turn

The second leg is scheduled to go ahead on Tuesday at the Olympic Montjuic Stadium in the Catalan capital. And while the arena is not Barcelona’s home, the onus is on the home support to turn up this time.

The PSG fans did their part, and while it did not work, Barcelona fans must do their best to turn the Montjuic into a hostile atmosphere.
