Roberto De Zerbi insists there is ‘no news’ regarding contract extension talks with Brighton and potentially replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and feels the Premier League ‘will lose one of the best coaches in the world’ if the German joins moved to a different country.

Klopp revealed on Friday that he’d leave Liverpool at the end of the season and De Zerbi has emerged as a potential candidate to replace him at Anfield in 2024-25.

“I am sorry because if he [Klopp] leaves the country, the Premier League will lose one of the best coaches in the world. I consider Klopp, Ancelotti, and Bielsa the best coaches in the world, and I am sad about it,” the Italian tactician said at a press conference.

“I can understand and I think our work is the best one can do. I consider my work the best, but it’s tough. You need energy, push every day, and improve day by day; you need to study because you can’t stop studying new coaches and ideas. Football is about development and if you don’t have the right energy, you lose everything.”

“I like him because of his energy and character. If he changed country and league, it’s not good for the Premier League.”

There are reports De Zerbi is in talks over a new deal with Brighton, but the ex-Sassuolo coach did not provide updates on his future.

“There is no news. My focus is on the end of this season. We want to focus on our targets,” he said as quoted by journalist Ryan Adsett.
