Legendary former Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini was reunited with the Italy national team squad during the team’s visit to New York as part of their mini-tour of the United States this international break.
The Azzurri are in the Big Apple ahead of Sunday night’s friendly against Ecuador. Luciano Spalletti oversaw a 2-1 victory over Venezuela, thanks to a brace from Mateo Retegui, in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday.
Italy have had several special guest visitors during their trip to the US, including the likes of former captain Fabio Cannavaro and tennis star Jannik Sinner, and have since caught up with Chiellini, as shown in a recent video released on social media.
Chiellini took time to shake hands with every member of the Italy delegation in the room.
The 39-year-old former centre-back has been based in the United States since his retirement at the end of 2023. He had spent the last two years of his career in MLS with LAFC following a 17-season stay in Turin.
