Ange Postecoglou has made it clear, in today’s pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s vital Scottish Premiership tie with Dundee United, that any incoming transfer business for Celtic is now concluded.

However, the manager did indicate, loan deals away from the club for younger players to aid their development were still being explored and also indicated whilst not actively asking any of the more senior players to leave the club, those who feel they could have more opportunities to play elsewhere may also move on.

“In the last six months I think we have done 16 or 17 transfers, I think that is probably the high water mark for me. I wouldn’t be expecting anyone else. There is obviously an element of risk whenever you do business, it is not a precise science.

“I am pleased as a club that we seem to be in a good place considering the amount of changes we have had to make. We are still working on getting loan opportunities for some of our boys. I expect there will be some sort of activity between now and the end of the window. It could even go beyond the window, there are certain markets around the world that don’t close at that time.”

Despite appearing to be absolutely clear that Celtic’s incoming business was now concluded, when he said ‘No, I wouldn’t be expecting anyone else in,’ Ange was still pressed on the matter in a follow up question from the mainstream media, when asked if players moving out on loan or on permanent deals may see further incomings, and not once but twice the manager referred the questioner to his previous remarks by saying, “I thought, I was pretty clear” and managing to look both bemused and frustrated at the same time.

With Celtic bringing in five new signings in January, more than any of the support would have expected, especially on the back of twelve being signed during the summer transfer window, it appears Ange Postecoglou feels he has more than enough at his disposal for a tilt at the title. As such if Michael Nicholson is going to have a busy Monday night, it looks like it will be dealing with players leaving the club rather than any coming in.
