Ange Postecoglou moved on from his ‘nothing happening as far as he’s concerned’ stance on transfer activity to today confirming at his Media Conference ahead of tomorrow’s Scottish Cup 4th Round tie against Greenock Morton that things are imminent in terms of both incoming and outgoing transfer deals as we approach the business end of the January transfer window.

And putting two and two together it would be reasonable to conclude that this means that 21 year old South Korean striker Hyeon-gyu Oh is heading to Paradise while it’s a departure for want-away striker Giorgos Giakoumakis. Unless of course there’s a twist in this saga still to come.

“At the moment, progress on incomings and outgoings but nothing confirmed yet,” the Celtic manager stated this afternoon. “Obviously we are getting to the tail end of the window and I expect progress over the next few days.”

And Ange added this about the Giakoumakis situation: “Until I know or hear otherwise, I expect them all to be Celtic players but there has been progress with all those kinds of issues. I guess over the next few days we will see how it all plays out.”

Celtic featured Giakoumakis prominently in their Training Gallery photographs on the club’s official website today so while it looks like the striker has recovered from his knock that kept him out of the 4-0 win over St Mirren in midweek, it would seem unlikely that he’d play against Morton given the current situation.

After that game on Wednesday night Ange had this to say on Giakoumakis: “I am just dealing with what is in front of me until I hear otherwise or something significant happens.

“He was here tonight, mate, so you could have asked him yourself. He’s still very much a part of our set up. He would have been involved tonight if he was not injured.”
