When Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad was made official for the latest round of international fixtures, his selections contained very few surprises.

With six VfB Stuttgart players called up to represent the national team, there were minimal arguments that their inclusions were not justified.

However, this has not always been the case for Die Roten in recent years, but over the past twelve months, Sebastian Hoeneß’s side has been the toast of German football.

The former Hoffenheim head coach has transformed Die Roten’s fortunes, taking them from relegation contenders to Champions League qualifiers and now to being the face of the German national team.

No other side, including Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, can boast more inclusions in the national team, and should Deniz Undav, Angelo Stiller, Alexander Nübel, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Chris Führich, and Jamie Leweling all feature against Bosnia and Herzegovina, then they will also break a historical record.

In 1979, five Stuttgart players were on the pitch at the same time, and this is a record that has never been beaten and, in recent years, never appeared likely to be broken.

Regardless, later tonight, Nagelsmann could make history by fielding all six Stuttgart players in what would be an emotional moment for all associated with Die Roten.
