The DFB have announced that VfB Stuttgart’s Jamie Leweling will replace the injured Jamal Musiala in Germany’s squad for the upcoming international break.
Musiala will miss the international break and Bayern Munich’s game against Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend as he receives treatment for a hip injury he suffered in Bayern’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen last weekend.
Leweling receives his first call-up to the German national team and links up with five of his Stuttgart teammates with Alexander Nübel, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Chris Führich, Angelo Stiller and Deniz Undav already with the side, which is a testament to the work that Sebastian Hoeneß has done at the club.
The 23-year-old has started the season off strongly for Stuttgart and offers a more direct option than Musiala. Leweling can also play on the left or the right wing.
In the October break, Germany plays two Nations League games, first against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo next Friday before three days later they host the Netherlands in Munich.
