Journalist Ferran Correas has affirmed via SPORT that Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski is very much comfortable at the club and in the city of Catalonia and does not wish to leave before his contract expires.

It is to be noted that Lewandowski’s ongoing contract with Barcelona runs for one more year, with an option for a second year if he plays 55% of the games. Interestingly enough, though, things are not as straightforward as they seem.

The veteran forward’s performance this season has not quite matched up to his previous seasons. Plus, his hefty salary and the coach’s desire for attacking changes add fuel to the speculation about his future.

It is suggested that talks are slated to happen soon, involving the player’s representative, Pini Zahavi.

Lewandowski wants to stay

Despite the impending discussions, Lewandowski’s stance remains firm: he is committed to seeing out his contract with Barcelona.

He has settled in the club and the city, as is his family, and he is keen on staying put for another year or possibly two. If he hits a certain game-time threshold next season, his contract will automatically extend.

Importantly, Lewandowski emphasizes his initial willingness to accept a lower salary to facilitate his move to Barcelona.

He is open to the idea of living in Barcelona even after retiring from football, indicating a deep attachment to the club and the city.

Despite tempting offers from other leagues, Lewandowski prefers to stay in European football, with Barcelona being his priority.

He does not discount the possibility of returning to his native Poland later in his career or even considering a stint in the United States before retiring.

In essence, Lewandowski’s focus is on Barcelona for now, with a clear vision for his immediate future and a hint of possibilities beyond.
