As the uncertainty around Xavi’s situation as the Barcelona manager continues, Hansi Flick’s name has come up as the most viable replacement option.

The German tactician, in fact, is said to be very close to taking over the reins at the club for next season and has even kept offers from the Premier League on hold to achieve his dream.

The situation, however, is far from as straightforward as it appears as relayed by ARA. After all, Barcelona know well that the process of parting ways with a manager is far from simple.

Xavi’s stance

Speaking to the media last week, Xavi even reiterated that he was looking forward to the season ahead and the challenges that it would bring.

He was willing to stay at the club knowing well about the financial circumstances and sees his departure to be unfair.

With the manager not willing to step down on his own, the question of financial compensation comes into the picture, complicating the procedure.

Given that he and his staff are under contract until 2025, Xavi would not be prepared to give away the compensation that would come along with it, at least that of his staff.

Long negotiations ahead

The Catalan outlet also further that Xavi’s departure and the compensation in question will negatively affect Barcelona’s financial fair play situation. After all, a new manager must also be registered in his place.

Depending on the contract termination terms agreed between the two parties, the developments could also negatively affect the club’s closing of accounts for this season.

Considering the massive financial complications and repercussions that lie ahead, the negotiations over Xavi’s sacking could well go on until June. Needless to say, the appointment of a new manager is also fairly distant.
