Leeds United begin their Vertu Trophy campaign this evening with a tough test away at Sky Bet League One outfit Port Vale.

Ahead of kick-off in Staffordshire, Whites boss Scott Gardner has made three changes to the side that defeated Burnley last time out in the Premier League 2.

Darryl Ombang replaces Rory Mahady between the posts for United with the Scotland youth international away on international duty. Reuben Lopata-White and Devon Brockie are also involved from the off.

A slight change in system sees Connor Douglas begin at right-back alongside Lopata-White, with Louis Enahoro-Marcus and Jayden Lienou completing the defense.

Brockie adds further reinforcements into the midfield with skipper Alfie Cresswell, Rhys Chadwick and Ollie Pickles, supporting the in-form Harry Gray and attacker Josh McDonald.

A youthful bench consists of U18s regulars George Kenyon, Carrick Njinko, Callum Mills and Will Firth, as well as Louie Dudley and Lewis Pirie.

Starting XI: Ombang (GK), Douglas, Lienou, Cresswell (C), Lopata-White, Enahoro-Marcus, Brockie, Chadwick, Gray, Pickles, McDonald.

Port Vale: Marosi (GK), Hall (C), Brown, Ojo, Gordon, Paton, Waine, Debrah, Shorrock, John, Shipley.
