Leeds United put a private jet on standby to transport Fulham attacker Harry Wilson to Yorkshire yesterday, according to talkSPORT.
Leeds wanted to bring the Wales international to the Elland Road club after meeting his club’s quoted asking price over the weekend.
However, Fulham pulled the plug on the deal after they failed to get Chelsea forward Tyrique George as his replacement.
Leeds tabled an improved offer to sign the 28-year-old ‘great talent’ after the Craven Cottage club indicated that they wanted to renegotiate the terms.
An agreement was reached, leading to a proposed Deal Sheet being signed by Leeds and Wilson.
However, Fulham told the Whites that the transfer was off some minutes before the 7pm deadline.
They wanted to sign a replacement first but a deal for George fell through, and they opted to hold on to the former Liverpool star.
Leeds were left gutted as signing Wilson would have been a great deal with manager Daniel Farke desperate to further bolster his attack before the window closed.
The Fulham star brings Premier League quality and experience to the table, and he was keen to join the Whites, but his club said no to the deal.
Leeds will now have to make do with what they have until the transfer window re-opens in January.
They added Lukas Nmecha, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor to their attack while the window was open, and they could all prove to be decent signings.
Leeds have picked up four points in their opening three games of the new Premier League campaign, and they have what it takes to pick up plenty of points in their next nine league games.
The Whites play Fulham immediately after the international break before games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bournemouth, Tottenham Hotspur, Burnley, West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.
