The ongoing communications war between Adrien Rabiot’s clan and Olympique de Marseille rages on this week. With both sides appearing in national and local media, Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique spoke to La Provence in a lengthy interview on Friday morning. Marseille took action to put Rabiot and English winger Jonathan Rowe on the transfer list following a heated altercation which allegedly resulted in physical violence following an opening day defeat to Stade Rennais last Friday (1-0). But Veronique Rabiot was steadfast in her attack on Marseille’s decision makers, Pablo Longoria, Medhi Benatia, and head coach Roberto De Zerbi – accusing the trio of “lying”. “It’s a betrayal. They praised him (Adrien) for a season and then shot him down and smeared his image. It’s very serious. I’ll say it again: they’re lying,” said Veronique in an interview published Friday morning. “And I’ll add that they’re not up to the job. They don’t have the right profile for the position. They’re consumed by pride and oversized egos, and they’re incapable of managing their emotions.”Rabiot then pointed out what she saw as a glaring hypocrisy: “When (Mason) Greenwood signed after hitting his girlfriend, De Zerbi said he could be given a second chance. I agree with giving people second chances, but would my son be the only one not entitled to one?”Roberto De Zerbi will appear in his pre-match press conference this afternoon, before Les Olympiens face newly-promoted Paris FC at the Stade Vélodrome on Saturday afternoon.GFFN | George Boxall
