Paolo Vanoli praised Scotland international Ché Adams during a press conference on the eve of a Serie A match against Inter.
The Granata were the table leaders last week but lost two consecutive matches against Empoli in Coppa Italia and Lazio in Serie A.
Tomorrow, Saturday, October 5, they visit Inter at San Siro.
“It’s an important match in many ways. It’s not a favourable moment, but we can do important things again,” Vanoli said at a press conference.
“I knew a moment like this could come, and it’s also nice to understand how to get out of it.
“Negative moments are part of a process, and a team like us can’t yet be perfect. We must be balanced as we know we’ll meet a top team. We must do something important and need courage and personality.”
Scotland international Adams has four goals in eight games across all competitions this term but fights for a starting spot with Antonio Sanabria.
“Adams is available, and he’s so important. He’s always put his quality at the team’s disposal,” said Vanoli.
“Sanabria scored in Verona as well. Adams was introduced against Lazio and scored a goal. This is the spirit I want to see. Choices depend on their shape. I always hope my strikers are in form, so I have difficult decisions.”
Vanoli will serve a one-match ban tomorrow and hasn’t yet decided on the starting XI against Inter.
“If I hadn’t had doubts, I’d have 13 starters,” he said.
“I always have doubts; sometimes, I find the solutions and other times, I don’t. You can’t be perfect. I aways announce the line-up in the locker room before each game.
“We conceded many goals, and I analysed them. Out of 49 chances we conceded, 16 came from defensive transitions, and three led to goals. I watched Man City vs Inter. The Nerazzurri could have scored with three counter-attacks, but City did not sit deep.”
