Atletico Madrid now have Koke Resurreccion, Rodrigo De Paul, Conor Gallagher and Pablo Barrios as options in the centre of midfield, which makes it very difficult for Arthur Vermeeren to have prominence this season. As such, it seems inevitable that he will end up leaving on loan before next week’s transfer deadline.
Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig have both registered their interest in Vermeeren, but it’s likely that Atleti would prefer he remains in La Liga – this way, he would be able to adapt to Spanish football quicker.
This means that Atleti could look more favourably on a deal with Valencia. According to Sacha Tavolieri, Los Che are interested in a season-long loan for the teenager. Vermeeren would be a valuable addition, as Ruben Baraja only has Pepelu, Javi Guerra and Hugo Guillamon as recognised central midfielders.
Valencia could be the ideal place for Vermeeren to play this season. Baraja has done an excellent job with the younger players in his squad, and Atletico Madrid will be aware he could also significant improve Vermeeren’s overall game if he were to make the move to the Mestalla in the next eight days.
