According to The Athletic, their ideal man for the job is former Premier League boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Sources confirmed that the USA is currently considering multiple candidates and that the federation is engaged in conversations with representatives of the 52-year-old.

Pochettino is a high-profile name who notably managed Southampton, Tottenham, and Chelsea during his time in England. His tenure included a run to the Champions League final with the Lilywhites.

He also won Ligue 1 with European giants Paris Saint-Germain but has never managed a national team.

The manager’s relationship with current U.S. Soccer sporting director Matt Crocker could help the deal progress as the two overlapped at Southampton.

The USA are without a manager following Gregg Berhalter’s departure after the 2024 Copa América and could potentially announce his successor before the September international break.
