América continue to try and sell several players with the aim of renewing the squad a bit for the upcoming 2022 Clausura campaign.

The team have three forwards on the roster and the one that the board and Santiago Solari wish to part ways with is none other than Federico Viñas.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan striker has quickly fallen out of favour with Solari to the extent that he only scored one goal last season while featuring for just 28% of all possible minutes last season.

Now, according to the Uruguayan press, Uruguayan giants Nacional are interested in Viñas but their objective is to sign him on loan, while the board would rather sell the player.

Despite his agent previously stating that Viñas would only accept a move to Europe, it’s believed that Viñas is okay with returning to his home country in hopes of impressing new manager Diego Alonso and being considered for the World Cup in Qatar, should Uruguay qualify.

Viñas has yet to earn a cap for his country but was involved with the U-23s for their 2020 Olympic qualifying campaign.
