It seems as though former Norwich City midfielder Tom Trybull could soon be back in English football.

That's after a report from Danish outlet Tipsbladet, who say that a number of Championship clubs are interested in signing the 31-year-old.

Trybull first moved to the Championship in the summer of 2017, signing for Norwich on a free transfer from Dutch side ADO Den Haag.

He stayed with the Canaries until the end of the 2020/21 campaign, making 80 appearances in all competitions, and winning the Championship title in 2019.

His last season with Norwich was spent on loan with another second-tier English side, in the form of Blackburn Rovers, where he made a total of 26 appearances.

Following his permanent departure from Carrow Road, Trybull spent a year-and-a-half in his native Germany before returning to the Championship in January 2023 when he signed for Blackpool.

However, the midfielder made just a handful of appearances for the Seasiders as they suffered relegation to League One, before the two parties mutually agreed to terminate his contract back in August.

Now though, it appears there is a chance he could soon be back in the Championship once again.

Trybull attracting transfer interest

After his departure from Blackpool, Trybull headed to Denmark to join Odense. He has since made 15 appearances for the club, helping them to ninth place in the current top-flight standings.

However, the midfielder is set to be out of contract at the end of this season, meaning he will be available on a free transfer in the summer.

According to this latest update, a number of clubs in the Championship are now keen to sign Trybull when the window opens again.

It is claimed that the midfielder's talks with his current club over a new deal have slowed recently.

That is apparently down to this interest from the Championship, with Odense said to be concerned about losing the 31-year-old to the second-tier of English football.

A useful potential signing for Championship clubs

It does feel as though the signing of Trybull could potentially be a smart one for a second-tier side in England to make.

The midfielder obviously has a decent amount of experience of the Championship, from his previous spells with Norwich, Blackburn and Blackpool.

As a result, he knows all about what is required at this level, and should therefore be well-prepared to make a positive impression, if he does indeed return to the division.

Indeed, having previously been a part of a title-winning squad in this division with Norwich, he could still bring a fair amount of quality back to the second-tier with him, that will make him a valuable asset for a club who signs him.

Of course, his contract situation also means that he looks as though he will likely be available on a free transfer at the end of this season.

Obviously, that would make this an affordable deal for those interested teams, eliminating any financial risk that may be attached to this deal.

So with that in mind, Trybull may not be the worst option for clubs in the Championship, come the summer window.
