As reported by Kicker, Uli Hoeneß had denied any involvement from Bayern Munich concerning Max Eberl and RB Leipzig parting ways. As previously reported, the former Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director was released by Die Roten Bullen earlier last week due to a “lack of commitment,” to the Saxons.

However, speculation arose that perhaps Die Rekordmeister had a role to play in Eberl struggling to commit to Leipzig which, therefore, led to his release. Nevertheless, Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß claims that: “The fact is that there is no agreement between FC Bayern and Max Eberl.”

While this may be the case, there has been a long-standing history between Bayern and Eberl, with the Bavarian club longing for the sporting director to take the mantle at the club. This has never been more true than in recent months, as after Hasan Salihamidzic was fired by Bayern, rumours of Eberl departing for the Säbener Straße have not stopped.

Nevertheless, if the record champions were to lure Eberl to the club, they would have to pay a significant fee to Leipzig, who spent €2m to bring Eberl to Saxony and the fee could rise to €6m. However, Leipzig are not against terminating the sporting director’s contract which would offer Bayern the perfect opportunity to finally capture their man.
