British Member of Parliament Michael Gove has confirmed that plans to allow fans back into stadiums from 1 October have been cancelled.
Last weekend 1000 fans at 10 stadiums across the Football League were allowed to watch matches as part of a Government programme to slowly reintroduce supporters back into stadia.
But now Gove has revealed that that plan has been shelved after a rapid increase of coronavirus cases in the United Kingdom.
Gove was speaking to the BBC this morning, where he confirmed the news which will devastate some clubs.
Fan groups have voiced their concerns that should supporters be forced to stay away from games for the rest of the upcoming season, then some clubs will have to fold due to financial pressure.
In France, Germany and Italy, supporters have been allowed to return in small numbers.
