Barcelona denied by one of their own

Iñaki Peña, on-loan from Barcelona, produced a stunning performance in goal for Galatasaray to deny his parent club the win.

The 23-year-old pulled off a brilliant one-handed save to keep out Memphis’ 27th-minute free-kick as the Turkish side frustrated their hosts at the Camp Nou.

Sergio Busquets came off the bench at half-time and saw his header tipped over the bar by Peña.

Frenkie de Jong spurned Barça’s best chance 15 minutes from time when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s overhead kick fell into his path six yards out but the Dutch midfielder failed to get his feet ready and directed the ball wide.

Bafétimbi Gomis thought he had nicked a shock win for his side in the 78th-minute with a clinical finish before the linesman flagged for a tight offside.

Rangers have one foot in the last-eight

Scorers: Tavernier (pen) 11′, Morelos 15′, Balogun 51′.

Rangers have one foot in the quarter-finals after they comprehensively beat Red Star at Ibrox.

The Scottish champions scored two in the opening 15 minutes to take control of the game with James Tavernier netting from the spot.

A well-worked short corner then landed at the feet of Alfredo Morelos to double the lead with his 32nd Europa League goal.

The tie could’ve been put beyond all doubt at the start of the second 45 minutes as Leon Balogun rose to head home Tavernier’s corner to give Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side a huge lead going into the second leg in Belgrade next Thursday.

Five-goal thriller in Bergamo

Scorers: Malinovskyi 23′, Muriel 25′, 49′; Aranguiz 11′, Diaby 63′.

Atalanta came from behind to beat Bayer Leverkusen in a thrilling game at the Gewiss Stadium.

Charles Aránguiz had given Leverkusen the lead 90 seconds after hitting the post from a free-kick, this time he found the bottom corner from the edge of the box following Florian Wirtz’s pass.

But two goals in two minutes for the hosts changed the face of the game.

Ruslan Malinovskyi equalised following a sublime link-up with Luis Muriel inside the area before feigning left and slotting the ball past Lukáš Hrádecký.

The Ukrainian then returned the favour, sliding in Muriel who made it 2-1 with a first time finish from just inside the area.

That duo combined to make it three at the start of the second half with Muriel curling into the back of the net after Malinovskyi poked the ball through.

Moussa Diaby pulled one back midway through the second half, wriggling past two Atalanta defenders before arrowing the ball in off the post but failed to pull level so the tie heads to Germany finely poised.

Munir downs Hammers

Scorers: Munir 60′.

West Ham will have work to do in London if they are to overcome Sevilla after losing at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

The hosts made the breakthrough on the hour mark courtesy of a well-executed free-kick. Marcos Acuña tricked the Hammers defence and found Munir free at the back post to volley into the bottom corner.

David Moyes’ side will be thankful they didn’t fall further behind soon after when Lucas Ocampos broke through but his shot curled just wide of the far post.

A brave block from Jesús Navas denied Manuel Lanzini from slotting home an equaliser from six yards box as the visitors pushed for an equaliser but Julen Lopetegui’s men head into the second leg with an advantage.
