UEFA to investigate PSG over pyrotechnics and “offensive” banners at game against Maccabi Haifa | OneFootball

L’Équipe report this afternoon that UEFA have opened an investigation over a series of incidents which took place during Paris Saint-Germain’s 7-2 win over Maccabi Haifa on Tuesday.

PSG are said to be risking sanctions over their home fans’ use of pyrotechnics as well as “provocative messages of an offensive nature”.

Notably, the start of the game saw about ten small Palestinian flags being waved in the Auteuil stand – despite the club telling fans not to bring flags unrelated to the team and its players, as is usually the case at the Parc des Princes.

At the start of the second half, the Collectif Ultras Paris unfurled a larger Palestinian flag along with a banner which read “Gaza exists, Gaza resists, Free Palestine”. UEFA’s disciplinary commission will look into the case at the end of November, with the group leaders risking a fine, while Maccabi Haifa are themselves under investigation as well for use of pyrotechnics.
