Udinese striker Beto has revealed that he has supported Inter from a young age, specifying that the Nerazzurri and Premier League side Chelsea are two of his favourite clubs.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 23-year-old also explained that former Inter striker Samuel Eto’o was a personal role model for him.

Beto scored a crucial equalizer for Udinese in their clash with Bologna last weekend, adding another decisive moment to his impressive start for the Friuli-based club this season.

The Portuguese explained that the Nerazzurri are the Italian club which he supported while he was young, singling out Eto’o for praise even ahead of last season’s Scudetto-winner Romelu Lukaku.

When he noted that “Chelsea and Inter” were two of the clubs he has long supported, the 23-year-old was asked if he would like to one day like to play for the Nerazzurri, though he emphasized his commitment to current challenges.

“I am thinking of Atalanta and then of Verona,” he said, of Udinese’s next two matches. “After that we will have Inter, but as an opponent.”

Of his favourite current Inter players, the striker named “Brozovic and Lautaro. And goalkeeper Handanovic.”

And of players he looks up to, Beto stated that “I admire Lukaku, I’ve followed him. But my idol has always been Eto’o.”
