Lille hosted Sevilla for the third game in Group G of the 2021 UEFA Champions League season. The game was a highly contested one, as both teams cancelled each other out for a goalless draw. Sevilla have now drawn all three of their opening games in the group and are second with three points, four behind leaders Salzburg. Lille have two points from their three games and are on the third spot, level on points with fourth-placed Wolfsburg.

The average position of the Sevilla players shows that they needed help from the wingers in the wide areas of defence. Most of their players had average positions inside their own half.

Lille had only 39% of the possession and created an xG of 0.57 in the match. They took a total of eight shots, hitting two on target in the goalless draw. The visitors Sevilla took 12 shots on goal with six on target and an xG of 1.29.

Lucas Ocampos had the highest xG in the match with 0.53, followed by Rafael Mir’s 0.49. Ocampos took four shots in the game, while Oliver Torres, Marcus Acuna and Jonathan Bamba all had ten passes in the final third.

Lille’s shot map shows that they had most of their shots from the edge of the box, with two from long range. They hit the target only twice and had a low xG in the game. Sevilla’s shot map shows that they had a few of their shots from inside the bo while the rest from outside. They hit the target six times but were unable to find the back of the net.

The xT creation timeline of the match shows that both teams had a few opportunities in the game, with Sevilla having more of the ball, but no team could completely dominate the match. The xG timeline shows the increase in xG for both teams over the course of the match.

Lille had a decent number of passes in the match, with Mehmet Celik completing the most passes in the match with 54. Benjamin Andre received the most passes with 45.

Sevilla had a lot of passes to show for their 61% possession in the game. Jesus Navas attempted the most passes with 86 followed by Diego Carlos’ 85. Jesus Navas and Carlos both also received the most passes with 65 and 71 respectively.

Lille completed most of their passes in the midfield and defensive areas. They had very few smart passes but put in a decent number of crosses into the box.

The passing zones for Sevilla show that they did a lot of passing all over the pitch, especially in defence and on the wings in the final third. Jesus Navas put in six passes and five crosses into the box. The xT creation zones for Lille show that they did not have a lot of opportunities created in the final third. Jonathan Bamba had the highest xT from passing for them.

Other than Bamba, Burak Yilmaz also had a decent xT from passing and also had the highest xT from dribbling.

The xT creation zones for Sevilla show that they created a few opportunities in and around the opposition box Their payers were able to create decent xT from passing. Jesus Navas, Suso, Oliver Torres and Thomas Delaney all had high xT from passing, while Suso and Acuna had high xT from dribbling as well. Lille contested a lot of defensive duels on the wings inside their own half. Celik won four defensive duels for the French club. There were only a few aerial duels contested in the game, with Reinildo winning three aerial duels for Lille.

Reinildo won four loose ball duels for Lille in the match while Benjamin Andre also made three loose ball recoveries for them.

Sevilla ad to contest most of their defensive duels on the right side of their defence. Marcus Acuna won five defensive duels in the match.

There were only a few aerial duels in the match, with Thomas Delaney winning five aerial duels, the highest in the match.

Marcus Acuna won five loose ball duels, followed by Delaney’s four and Diego Carlos’ there. Most of these loose ball duels were in the defensive areas.

Salzburg lead the group with seven points, while no other team has won a single game in the group. Sevilla have drawn all three, while Lille and Wolfsburg have drawn two and lost one each to Salzburg.
