Tyler Walton joins: How Bolton Wanderers' dream end to the transfer window looks

Bolton Wanderers should seek to finish off their summer transfer window with a move for Tyler Walton of Accrington Stanley.

Bolton Wanderers are set to be active in the final few days’ of the summer transfer window, and Steven Schumacher will want to find a couple of solutions in attacking areas of the pitch.

The Trotters have brought in as many as 12 new signings this summer, with Schumacher able to almost completely refresh the squad, having discussed a desire to recruit to a different shape.

Wanderers’ performances have actually been quite strong, but there has been a lack of efficiency in the final third and obdurate effectiveness at the back, with a desire for things to be tweaked ever so slightly.

As the transfer window comes towards a close, Bolton are expected to remain active, both in terms of incomings and outgoings, and Football League World has looked at what would be a dream end to the transfer window for the Whites.

Wanderers’ need for another attacker outside of an out and out striker has become apparent with John McAtee left out of the match day squad against Lincoln City, and the former Barnsley man never really cutting it in any position for the Whites.

Joel Randall has shown signs of improvement this season, but the former Peterborough United midfielder is perhaps better at facilitating counter attacks with good off the ball movement, rather than someone who can create from little.

Tyler Walton has already earned himself League One interest this summer, with Northampton Town said to be keen, and his start to the season at Accrington Stanley is only likely to further that.

Capable of playing up-front as well as out-wide, his versatility would be of a major bonus to Schumacher, and he is perhaps someone that Wanderers should plump for before the close of the market.

In: Johnny Kenny

Someone who has been linked with Bolton throughout the summer is Johnny Kenny, and it has been reported that the Trotters remain keen on the Celtic striker.

Having had a £500,000 reportedly rejected and then Kenny signing a new deal, Bolton would surely have been put off a move for the former Shamrock Rovers man, but instead they are continuing to pursue him.

An alternative profile to Mason Burstow and Sam Dalby, with an ability to get in behind, Schumacher has made it clear he wants a variety up-front and finally landing their man would be an ideal situation for Bolton.

Out: Szabolcs Schon

Throughout the summer, Szabolcs Schon had featured in pre-season but the Hungary international has been left out of the Bolton squad throughout the start of the campaign, with Schumacher citing a lack of quality.

Amario Cozier-Duberry has taken his place as the left footed right-winger and the Brighton and Hove Albion appears unlikely to be dropped or even rested, leaving Schon in a predicament as he chases first-team football, taking up a squad place that the Whites could use elsewhere.

He has been linked with a move to AIK and it would be no surprise to see him depart, but it is a move that would ideally happen sooner rather than later for everyone’s sake.

Out: John McAtee

McAtee missed out on the squad against Lincoln and had been on the bench before that since starting on the opening day of the season against Stockport County in a 2-0 loss at Edgeley Park.

Still yet unaware of where he is best on the pitch, despite he himself saying he wanted to play in the number ten, McAtee doesn’t appear to fit into the 4-2-3-1 system that Schumacher wants to play.

As a result, despite joining to much fan fare last summer, it wouldn’t be a surprise for the Walkden-born attacker to depart this season in order for Wanderers to replenish the attacking midfield position with someone more suited to the role, and someone who can be more consistent and effective.
