Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that no comparison can be made between the club’s season opener against Chelsea and this afternoon’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup final tie at Wembley Stadium.

The Gunners were 3-2 victors over The Blues at The Emirates Stadium on the opening day of the season. It was a game which saw Arsenal play some exciting football and one in which Chelsea were unusually off-colour.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of this afternoon’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley, Arsenal boss Eidevall said that few comparisons can be made between the two matches.

“You could argue a number of different points,” Eidevall said. “You could say that they (Chelsea) almost had the same squad as they had for the Champions League final, they had the same coach and they obviously knew the way that they play and work.

“We made a number of additions to our squad, me coming in as a new coach and had very limited time, I don’t know whether you could argue whether that was easy for us.

“Obviously now, I have had more time, the players have had more time to adjust during the season but Chelsea have. I think it is two teams that have developed during the season and have learnt things.

“I’m excited and I am looking forward to the game.”

This is a massive week for Arsenal with an important UEFA Women’s Champions League tie against European champions Barcelona set to follow this afternoon’s Wembley appearance. Eidevall went on to say that he wants his side to embrace the opportunities which have been presented to them.

He said “These are the games that we want to play or coach, we are all looking forward to it and we wish that it could be like this every week.

“I hope that we can embrace and live the moment, be present in it, that will always be a good start.”

The 2020/2021 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final kicks-off at 2pm at Wembley Stadium.
