With Chelsea having beaten Barcelona on Saturday and not in action, today is a huge opportunity for the chasing pack in the Women’s Super League.

Here’s what happened.

Sensational City net five

Scorers: Ouahabi 1, Shaw 3′ 24′, Blindkilde 81′, Park 86′

Manchester City were at their brilliant best as they beat West Ham 5-0.

City knew a win would take them top of the Super League and they got off to the perfect start as Leila Ouahabi scored after just 24 seconds.

The home side’s joy was doubled just a few moments later as Bunny Shaw scored her 50th in the WSL.

The Jamaica international then got her second of the afternoon midway through the first half with a smart strike.

Into the second half and City secured the victory late on through Laura Blindkilde and then netted a fifth through Jess Park.


Magical Mead

Scorers: Mead 28′ 78′, Russo 75′

Beth Mead scored twice as Arsenal beat Leicester 3-0 on Sunday.

The Gunners were looking to reel in leaders Chelsea with a win here as the Foxes came to north London aiming for their first victory in five games.

But it was the hosts who took the lead on 28 minutes as Beth Mead showed her class with an excellent finish.

Into the second half and the Emirates outfit doubled their lead with 15 minutes to go as Alessia Russo coolly slotted in a second.

Russo then had a chance to net again but saw her header saved but Mead was there to tap in.


Late drama

Scorers: Malard 13′, Le Tissier 90+2′; England 29′, Naz 31′

Maya Le Tissier scored in added time to rescue a point for Manchester United as they drew 2-2 with Tottenham.

United came into this clash looking for the three points that would take them above Liverpool and back into fourth place.

And it was the hosts who got off to the perfect start as Melvine Malard rose highest and headed in after 13 minutes.

Spurs fought back on the half hour though and stunned United with two goals in quick succession.

First Beth England equalised with a neat finish before Jess Naz added a second after some excellent footwork inside the area.

Into the second half and the the home side pushed for an equaliser as Geyse and Lucia Garcia were both introduced from the bench.

But it was Maya Le Tissier who bagged that all important goal in added time to secure a late point.


Next weekend sees Arsenal travel to Everton whilst Manchester City take on Bristol City.
