According to a report from MARCA, two young players from Barcelona’s youth team, Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez, have caught the attention of Hansi Flick, who is closely monitoring their progress.

Barcelona’s youth academy, La Masia, continues to be a rich source of talent, consistently producing players who are on the verge of breaking into the first team.

Among these promising talents are cousins Toni and Guille Fernandez, both only 16 years old, who made headlines recently with their remarkable performances for Barça Atletic.

The two cousins, who joined Barcelona’s academy in 2018 at the age of 10, have been lifelong Barça fans. Toni, born on 15 July 2008, is a versatile forward who can play as a centre-forward, right-winger, or attacking midfielder.

Guille, born on 18 June 2008, is a central midfielder. Both players have excelled at every level they have played and their talent is so evident that they were included in Barcelona’s first-team squad for the pre-season tour of the United States, a clear indication of the club’s belief in their potential.

It is said that Flick took note of their abilities during this pre-season tour, and both players are firmly on his radar, with the club’s coaches and staff keeping him informed of their development.

Toni, in particular, has earned a spot on Barcelona’s B list for the Champions League, where he wears the number 42 shirt. This shows the club’s confidence in his ability to contribute at a higher level.

Last weekend, the duo made history for the youth team, scoring against Ourense and setting new records for the club.

Toni became the youngest-ever scorer for Barça Atlètic at 16 years, 1 month, and 23 days old. His goal, a stunning bicycle kick, was followed by Guille also finding the back of the net, marking them as two of the most exciting prospects in the academy.

The coaching staff at La Masia regard both Toni and Guille as standout talents, and Flick has already been won over by their performances.

Known for giving opportunities to young players, Flick appears ready to provide them with the minutes they deserve, further reinforcing Barcelona’s commitment to nurturing its homegrown talent, regardless of their age.
