FC Barcelona are going strong in La Liga, leading Real Madrid by 4 points with an El Clásico still left to play. It is a very favorable position for Hansi Flick’s men, although their performances in recent weeks have been a cause of concern.

Fatigue seems to be threatening to derail what has been an excellent campaign so far this season for Hansi Flick. However, the team’s mentality and resilience have ensured that they have managed to hang on, as exemplified by their scintillating comeback win against Celta Vigo a few days ago.

As per Mundo Deportivo, two Barcelona players continued to prove their indispensability to Hansi Flick’s team in the tremendous 4-3 win during the weekend. Both Raphinha and Pedri continue to set standards with their performances this season.

Raphinha scored two goals and provided an assist on the night against Celta Vigo, taking his goal contributions for the season to 49. That effectively means that he has been involved in 49 of the 151 goals that Barcelona have scored this season.

The Brazilian attacker is basically directly responsible for almost 1/3rd of the Barcelona goals and doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. Raphinha is also in the running for the Ballon d’Or on the back of an astonishing Champions League campaign.

Pedri, on the other hand, continues to depict his importance to the team. Barcelona with Pedri and without Pedri are two completely different entities, as seen in the second leg against Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park.

Against Celta Vigo, Pedri played the full 90 minutes and recorded 17 ball recoveries — the highest in a single match during the 2024–25 La Liga season. It’s an astonishing feat for a player best known for his quality on the ball, and it highlights his unwavering commitment to the team’s cause.

Furthermore, the 22-year-old Canarian midfielder has won a total of 209 possessions in La Liga, making him the leader in this category across the league, excluding goalkeepers. Pedri is also the only player in La Liga to have recovered possession more than 15 times in multiple matches this season.

In Raphinha and Pedri, Barcelona have two players who have hardly put a foot wrong in the entire season, and will depend on the duo along with players like Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo if they are to win the treble this season. Let’s wait and see how it plays out.
