Ozan Tufan could stay at Hull City for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign, according to a report from Hull Live.

Tufan has emerged as a target for Besiktas this month with the Turkish outfit submitting a bid for the midfielder.

However, despite this offer, it is understood that there is a growing belief that Tufan will remain at the MKM Stadium.

The Turkey international is keen to stay at Hull and fight for a place in the club’s starting eleven over the course of the coming months.

Since the Tigers opted to appoint Liam Rosenior as their head coach in November, Tufan has been deployed primarily as a substitute.

Having featured for Hull in their FA Cup defeat to Fulham last weekend, the midfielder is expected to make his 25th appearance of the season this weekend when his side take on Huddersfield Town.

The Tigers have accumulated a respectable total of nine points from their last five league games and thus will be confident in their ability to secure a positive result in front of their supporters.

A push for a play-off place in the coming months is not out of the question for Hull as they are only six points adrift of Millwall who occupy sixth place in the Championship standings.

The Verdict

This is a surprising twist regarding Tufan’s future as it seemed as if the midfielder was set to make a return to the Super Lig earlier this month.

Providing that the midfielder does indeed stay at Hull, it will be interesting to see whether he will be able to play a key role in the club’s quest for success.

Although Tufan has managed to find the back of the net on four occasions in the Championship this season, a lack of consistency has resulted in him averaging a relatively underwhelming WhoScored match rating of 6.39 at this level.

If Rosenior hands the 27-year-old a chance to impress against Huddersfield, Tufan will need to produce an eye-catching display in order to boost his hopes of becoming a regular starter for the Tigers.
