The international break is always an interesting time as players speak to the media in their home countries, often in a less guarded way than they treat their Premier League duty.

You also get a more interesting spread of people being interviewed – Thomas Tuchel’s chief assistant Zsolt Low for example. He spoke to Origo in his home country about how hard it was to keep a group motivated after they’ve had success like this Chelsea team.

“After the Champions League win, it is very difficult and challenging for our players to stay motivated, but we are constantly working on this.”

He also spoke about the summer transfer window, and how important it had been. It sounds like Tuchel himself had been pushing for some of the players we signed:

“It’s important to keep Chelsea at that level and improve. The summer transfer window has been very good, we have been able to get players that we desperately needed and we can move forward with them.”

So far, the summer signings are struggling to get into gear, with Romelu Lukaku in particular still yet to really find his space in the setup.

This next run of games before Christmas will be vital in trying to help him bed in. If he doesn’t manage it before then, there will be serious questions being asked about his future.

Still, Low sounds confident, and all we can do is back Tuchel and his staff to pick the right players in the summer and then integrate them properly now.
