Newcastle United entertained Manchester United at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they focused on collecting maximum points in the Premier League. The Magpies made a decent start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.

Anthony Gordon finally broke the deadlock with an easy finish in the 55th minute. The Tyneside club hung on to their slender advantage and secured a hard-fought 1-0 win in front of their home fans.

Pope had to make just one save in the game and secured a comfortable clean sheet at St. James’ Park.

Lascelles cleared the danger when needed and did enough to keep a clean sheet.

LB: Tino Livramento – 7/10

He earned the ball back once and made some driving runs with the ball.

CM: Lewis Miley – 7/10

Miley anchored the midfield with conviction for the Magpies.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 7.5/10

The Brazilian was not shy of a tackle and engineered a handful of promising chances in the opponent’s half.

CM: Joelinton – 8/10

He gave a good account of themselves in both halves but failed to register a goal.

RW: Miguel Almiron – 7/10

Almiron caused a few problems for the Man United defenders but never looked like he would score.

ST: Alexander Isak – 6.5/10

Isak had some bright moments in and around the opponent’s penalty box but failed to find the back of the net.

LW: Anthony Gordon – 7.5/10
