Looking in from the outside, I think Thomas Frank is a very good manager.

However, it feels to me like it is an appointment Spurs should have made two years ago, instead of Ange Postecoglou. I don’t rate the now sacked Spurs manager at all.

An interesting dynamic with Spurs and Manchester United, both of who deserved to be relegated last season considering how woeful they were in the Premier League.

Both clubs so so lucky that due to the massive downturn in quality in the Europa League, due to the expansion of the Champions League and no longer third placed CL group teams dropping into the Europa League, it meant that two very poor teams reached the final in Bilbao.

Yet Ruben Amorim kept his job after losing the Europa League final (and proving clueless with Man U in the Premier League), whilst Spurs sacked Ange Postecoglou despite him winning them their first trophy in 17 years.

Very interesting to see how Manchester United and/or Spurs react if their Premier League form continues into the 2025/26 season…

‘We are delighted to announce the appointment of Thomas Frank as our new Head Coach on a contract that runs until 2028.

Thomas has extensive experience in English football having joined Brentford in 2016 – since becoming one of the longest-serving current managers in the Premier League. During his time at Brentford he transformed the Club, moving them up from the Championship to an established Premier League side, consistently and significantly outperforming expectations for an extended period of time.

In Thomas we are appointing one of the most progressive and innovative head coaches within the game. He has a proven track record in player and squad development and we look forward to him leading the team as we prepare for the season ahead.
