Trent Alexander-Arnold is looking to return to Liverpool in the best shape of his career and judging by his summer, he will likely be successful in that effort.
According to the Times, the 24-year-old only took one week off following the end of the club season and England duty as he bids to hit the ground running in August.
Alexander-Arnold has spent more than two weeks in the United States working at Under Armour’s innovation hub in Portland, Oregon and has immersed himself in an intense training camp.
His fitness programme has focused on speed and endurance and has included hiking and 30-mile bike rides.
The report also states that Alexander-Arnold recognises he is set to embark on a pivotal season in both his club and international career.
Jürgen Klopp eventually shifted him into a hybrid role last season that allows him to move from right-back to midfield when the Reds have possession.
Klopp has also spoken about the academy product becoming one of the team’s leaders on and off the pitch.
He isn’t the only Liverpool player putting the work in this summer, with Jordan Henderson also cutting his holidays short to work with Matt Konopinkski, the co-founder and head of physiotherapy and performance at Rehab 4 Performance in Liverpool. Konopinski has worked for Liverpool, the FA and Rangers in Scotland.
Liverpool kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Chelsea on 13 August.
