Stoke City loanee Connor Taylor is likely to remain with Bristol Rovers for the rest of the season, as per a recent report by Bristol Live.

The centre back has been a revelation for the Gas since arriving on loan from the Potters, with Joey Barton being understandably keen to hold onto the player until the end of the current campaign.

It has now been revealed that the Stoke-on-Trent outfit are now prepared to leave Taylor out on loan, which means that the Gas are seemingly in driving seat to secure a revised deal for the 20-year-old in the not too distant future.

Stoke boss Michael O’Neill had previously suggested that the player could be recalled to the Bet365 Stadium in order to help the club cope with their injury problems, however it appears that they have now abandoned that idea.

With the Potters now only likely to do that as a last resort, it is fair to assume that the promising youngster will now see out the season at the Memorial Stadium.

The Verdict

As far as the player’s future and development goes, remaining at Bristol Rovers is certainly the best choice at this point in time.

He will continue to get the game time that he needs with the Gas and will be treated as more of a senior player than he would be at his parent club right now.

Stoke are clearly wise enough to not want to disrupt something that has been going so well for Taylor and they will no doubt keep a watchful eye on his progress as they always do with their young players.

The Gas will no doubt be delighted if they can keep him at the club until the end of the campaign after seeing the impact that he has made already alongside his teammates.
