Neeksens Kebano has left Fulham following the expiry of his contract, writes Dom Smith.
The winger represents DR Congo at international level and had been at Fulham since 2016 when he was signed from Belgian side Genk.
He ruptured his achilles in November and missed the rest of the season as a result and, although Fulham offered him a new contract three weeks ago, he has opted to move on.
The 31-year-old said: “My time has come to an end. It doesn’t feel like it’s been seven years. I enjoyed every single bit of my journey as a Fulham player. Even in the bad moments, there were always positives.”
Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan added: “Neeskens Kebano has been an important part of the Fulham family since he arrived in 2016. He’s made great contributions to our club, both in the Championship and in the Premier League.
“Neeskens is adored by the Fulham supporters and is beloved at our training ground. He’s been a great friend to so many people at this club, and we thank him for his great time at Fulham.”
Arsenal’s head of medical services, Gary O’Driscoll, is leaving the club to take up a similar role with Manchester United.
O’Driscoll has been with Arsenal since February 2009 and has proved to be a very popular figure at the club.
Arsenal sporting director Edu informed club staff on Friday that O’Driscoll was leaving, explaining it would “take his family closer to their loved ones”.
O’Driscoll came close to leaving Arsenal in 2020 to go up north to Liverpool, but manager Mikel Arteta persuaded him to stay.
Tottenham are set to sell a number of players this summer as Ange Postecoglou rebuilds.
Still, the new head coach is prepared to give players a chance.
Among the Australian’s decisions is whether to give a lifeline to Tanguy Ndombele, who has struggled to make an impact in English football but is back at the club after another loan spell.
Colombian wonderkid Oscar Cortes has been signed by Lens, writes Dom Smith.
The deal, expected to be announced in the next few days, comes after 19-year-old Cortes scored four goals and registered two assists from midfield at the recent U20 FIFA World Cup in Argentina.
Cortes, who currently plays his club football in his homeland with Millonarios, won the Bronze Boot at those finals after being outscored by only Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei and Marcos Leonardo of Brazil.
Cortes will become Lens’s sixth signing of the summer. They finished second in Ligue 1 last season, missing out on a historic second-ever title to Paris Saint-Germain by just a single point.
Talks remain ongoing to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo but the Seagulls are demanding close to £100m amid West Ham’s imminent sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105m, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
Chelsea could sign a second midfielder and have sounded out Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga and Southampton’s Romeo Lavia over possible summer moves.
It was Real Madrid who won the race for wonderkid Arda Guler, dubbed the ‘Turkish Messi’.
While hugely talented, breaking into the first-team at the Santiago Bernabeu does not look like an easy process.
Still, the teenager has now ruled out the idea of heading out on loan during his first season.
