Premier League transfers: All the stars linked with moves before summer window closes

In the latest summer transfer news, Manchester United are poised to announce the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro while Chelsea continue to hold talks with Barcelona over a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. There is also interest from Erik Ten Hag in Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin, who gave Manchester City a torrid time in the 3-3 draw last weekend.

While Chelsea continue their busy summer of transfer business and remain interested in Frenkie de Jong, Wesley Fofana and Anthony Gordon as well as a move for striker Aubameyang, who is said to be keen on a return to the Premier League. In other news, Nottingham Forest have signed the 22-year-old midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves for an initial £25m that could rise to over £42m.

Perhaps, however, he was simply being diplomatic. Suffice to say this had not gone as planned. Gallagher had only lasted 63 minutes and just 45 of them in the centre of midfield. He was shifted to the right at half-time and his brightest moment, a shot that almost halved the deficit, came from a more attacking berth. He was still removed soon afterwards as Tuchel overloaded with attackers to such an extent that, in effect, he ended up with a one-man midfield.

Man Utd eye moves for Kevin Trapp and Yann Sommer in pursuit of ball-playing goalkeeper

Manchester United are considering moves for Eintracht Frankfurt‘s Kevin Trapp and Borussia Monchengladbach‘s Yann Sommer to give Erik ten Hag the option of a ball-playing goalkeeper, as they also pursue a deal for Ajax‘s Antony.

The Dutch coach was hugely encouraged by David De Gea‘s performance in the momentum-shifting 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday, and especially his willingness to come off his line, but has been considering the safety net of an alternative choice.

Trapp is especially interested in the move but Frankfurt would not sell for less than €10m and would be aggravated by having to pursue a replacement this late in the window.
