Free since leaving Olympique de Marseille, Chancel Mbemba is struggling to find a new club. And now we know why.

This summer, several suitors have already shown interest in securing the services of Chancel Mbemba. Paris FC, newly promoted to Ligue 1, recently tested the waters. In fact, the club from the Paris region has made moves behind the scenes, but so far without success.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia have also inquired about the situation. But they too have backed out, all running up against the Mbemba wall. According to Foot Mercato, Mbemba has high demands, as he wants a salary higher than what he earned at OM (around €320,000). He is also asking interested clubs for a hefty signing bonus.

But clubs are unwilling to spend so much, especially since Mbemba didn't play at all last season with the Olympique's first team. He trained mainly with the reserves. He only got game time during international breaks, playing matches for the Democratic Republic of Congo. All this doesn't help his case at the negotiating table. Yet, the defender remains firm and financially demanding.
