Itâs the midway point in the week and itâs time to find out what the transfer rumour mill has to offer today.
Having already signed Philippe Coutinho, it seems Steven Gerrard is trying to slowly reassemble Liverpoolâs entire 2013/14 squad at Aston Villa. Journalist Gerard Romero reports that Gerrard has contacted Luis SuĂĄrez about potentially moving to Villa Park on a free transfer when his AtlĂ©tico Madrid contract expires this summer.
With just under two weeks of the window left, Newcastle United seem to be ramping up their transfer aspirations. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Magpies have now agreed personal terms with Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos, whereas the Daily Mail claim Bayer Leverkusen defender Mitchell Bakker could also be heading to St Jamesâ Park.
While the Manchester Evening News report that Newcastle are also working on a loan deal for Manchester Unitedâs Jesse Lingard.
Arsenal may have to agree to an 18-month loan deal if they are to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur. La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Gunners only wanted to sign the Brazilian on a six-month loan, but Juve are holding out for more commitment.
Bayern Munich are growing impatient about Robert Lewandowskiâs contract situation and could sell him this summer if it hasnât been resolved by then, report SportBILD. Lewandowskiâs current deal doesnât expire until the summer of 2023 but Bayern reportedly canât bear the uncertainty and would look to sign Borussia Dortmundâs Erling Haaland if their star striker is sold.
Juventus have made an approach to Manchester United to take Anthony Martial on an initial loan deal, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
Catalan outlet Sport report that Ousmane Dembélé could back down and sign a new contract with Barcelona after blaming his agent for failing to come to an agreement with the club in the last round of talks.
While Sport also say Barcelona teen sensation Gavi is attracting interest from Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Bayern Munich, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2023.
âHe wants to show the fans of Manchester United, the board, the whole world, what kind of player he can be. Even if itâs for only showing up for a new contract elsewhere, he will be highly motivated to do that, so why should I then not play him?â
That was Ralf Rangnick rather peculiarly suggesting that Paul Pogbaâs motivation to perform for Manchester United this season may be fuelled by a desire to impress other clubs.
Aston Villa completed the signing of goalkeeper Robin Olsen on loan from Roma until the end of the season.
And Marseille announced the signing of Sead KolaĆĄinac from Arsenal.
