“He remains a pillar here and he will stay,” Juventus president Andrea Agnelli said of Cristiano Ronaldo’s future in the wake of another early European exit on Friday night.

Ronaldo had been linked with PSG but French Football insider Julien Laurens insists that they would prefer to keep and extend Kylian Mbappé and Neymar’s deals (which both run out in 2022) rather than pursue the Portuguese in any case.

Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret and could move for him in the next 12 months, per ESPN, if one of David de Gea or Dean Henderson depart.

The Liverpool Echo report that the Premier League champions are planning to strengthen out wide this summer and are keen on Watford’s 22-year-old standout Ismaïla Sarr.

Chelsea’s pursuit of West Ham’s Declan Rice is stepping up but the Daily Star claim that a €70m deal will only be possible through sales reaching that amount.

Tottenham and Ajax have a transfer history largely involving players going from Amsterdam to London but the Dutch outfit are hoping for some payback, registering an interest in signing Ryan Sessegnon on loan, per the Guardian.

Fake News 😡

The Le10Sport claim that Everton are pushing to bring in Thomas Lemar from Atlético Madrid appears to be at odds with their transfer strategy.

The Sun are reporting that even with an expensive free agent deal on the way in Willian and after the financial cuts at the club this week, Arsenal are still plotting a £100m triple deal for Thomas Partey, Dani Ceballos and Gabriel Magalhães. Good luck getting those three on that budget.

Finally, L’Equipe’s suggestion that Manchester City are mulling over a move for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar is another which is at odds with other reports on their plans.

Funniest rumour of the day 🤣

Arsenal are indeed pursuing Barcelona outcast Philippe Coutinho, per a report in Spanish outlet Sport today.

But the Gunners are unwilling to take on all of his £240,000 per week wages and are apparently eager for the Blaugrana to take on a large chunk.

The amusement arrives with the claim that ‘Barcelona don’t want to lose a single penny’ on the Brazilian. Given his recent form, good luck with that.

What you missed yesterday 👇

Aside from the return of the Champions League, there was some transfer activity that went down.

Bayern Munich announced that young duo Sarpreet Singh and Christian Früchtl have both left the club on loan – with the pair joining 1. FC Nürnberg in the second tier.

They aren’t the only highly-regarded youngsters to leave a club temporarily with Daniel Arzani swapping Manchester City for Utrecht.
