Liverpool want to be the club to finally bring Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to the Premier League, while Chelsea hope to land Victor Osimhen by offering one of their forwards in part-exchange…

LIVERPOOL TO LAND LAZIO LYNCHPIN More than any other club needs anything else, Liverpool need midfielders this summer (they’ve been linked with 48). They hope Jude Bellingham will be one (though that looks ‘increasingly unlikely’). Apparently, they want Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to be another.

Milinkovic-Savic finally looks set to leave Lazio after at least five years of being linked with a big-money move. Manchester United have had a long-standing interest in the Serbia star and Arsenal have also been been sniffing. In Italy, Juventus are on his tail.

But Calciomercato says Jurgen Klopp has identified Milinkovic-Savic as an ideal signing to bolster his engine room, with a fee of £44million mentioned. The 28-year-old is approaching the final year of his contract at Lazio meaning the Rome outfit will look to sell this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing further down the line.

VILLA EYE LUKAKU SWOOP Romelu Lukaku will definitely be flying from Italy to England this summer. The Belgium striker already knows he is being returned to Chelsea following his loan spell back at Inter Milan. After that, his future is rather less clear.

The most likely scenario is that Chelsea will look to move Lukaku on again. Real Madrid were supposedly interested as they look for back-up options. Aston Villa, though, want to make the ex-Everton and Manchester United forward their leading man.

That’s the line from Fichajes, though they don’t sound optimistic of Unai Emery’s chances. A move ‘may be impossible’ because any fee ‘may be too much’ for the Villans.

CHELSEA TARGET TRIO  Chelsea need the money to continue their own rebuilding plans, with the Blues linked with almost a new spine…

Reports in Italy suggest they want Lukaku to bring Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana with him when he returns from the San Siro. Onana only joined Inter last summer, but Chelsea’s interest goes back to the Cameroonian’s time at Ajax.

The Blues are also reported by El Nacional to be willing to ‘break the bank’ to sign Federico Valverde from Real Madrid. Which is all well and good but Real aren’t looking to sell and the Uruguay midfielder doesn’t want to leave.

Real and Chelsea are set to lock horns over Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, with both clubs said to be looking to put player-plus-cash proposals to Napoli. Calciomercato says the Blues will offer Christian Pulisic as part of their deal, while Real will plonk Nacho Fernandez and £70million on the table.
